The water may have an odour, which is normal. Drain the live filter media through a sieve. Place the wet filter media into a filter sock or directly into your filter or sump, depending on your setup. Do not let it dry outbefore using. Your live filter colonies are ready to get to work immediately and will also spread to other filter media you may already have in your filter.
